Our terrain mesh products are compiled from a variety of sources derived from real-world data, ranging from the United States Geological Survey National Elevation Dataset, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission, and Canadian Digital Elevation Dataset, to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística Geografía e Informática (INEGI) from Mexico. All source data is meticulously tested and pre-processed to address inherent anomalies, ensuring the highest quality of the end result.
And that end result is a spectacular enhancement when compared to the low-resolution default terrain. The rounded bumps become breathtaking mountain ranges with every peak, ravine and crevasse modeled in realistic detail. Even in the lowlands the previously flat, featureless default terrain becomes highly-defined rolling hills and valleys, just like in the real world they represent.
